The Dewalt DWFP55126 is an excellent, stationary, pancake-style air compressor that can be used for a multitude of jobs. It is great for airbrushing, framing, roofing, and inflation, among other DIY, professional, and hobbyist projects and tasks. With a maximum PSI of 165, it is the highest PSI compressor we’ve reviewed so far in this size category!
Sure, this model has all the standard features – pressure control gauges, two couplers, a high flow regulator, etc. – but it also features a highly effective ball drain valve and rubber leg covers to avoid movement during fill-up and marring of work surfaces.

What it’s Good For
Need a compressor for inflation? This one can take care of tire inflation quickly and easily. Need it for a professional job? The PSI and SCFM of this model can support framing and roofing nail guns. Are you a hobbyist working on a smaller scale with a variety of tools? Brad nailers and airbrushes can be powered with this compressor, although we do recommend that you invest in a moisture filter if you intend to use it for longer painting projects. Whatever you need an air compressor for, especially if you have some bigger projects in your future, the Dewalt DWFP55126 is an excellent solution for almost anyone.
The Pros and Cons
The cons of this model are few and far between. There is very little to criticize given that it is an average size and weight, has mostly standard features, and has a relatively average pump strength of about 1 HP. That said, like many similar products, this model does not come with an air hose, so make sure that you have one or order one separately so that your use of this product is not delayed. At a noise level of 75.5 dBA, it is somewhat quiet, but certainly not the quietest (or loudest) model on the market.
Unlike the downsides, the advantages of this model are many. It features an average to high SCFM for a compressor of this size and style, meaning it can power a wider variety of tools. The pump is oil-free, making it low maintenance, though you will need to avoid overuse that could cause wear on the pump components. With two couplers, this model can support two users at once. If you are using it in a smaller setting, such as for hobbyist woodwork or upholstery, it can support two tools at once, so you don’t have to continuously connect and disconnect tools as you need them for a small project. The ball drain provides effective and easy drainage, which is always an important part of air compressor safety. To round out the great features, you get rubber leg covers, meaning you can put your compressor on any flat surface without having to worry about movement while it fills or scratches on you work surfaces or floors.
Overall, an excellent product. You get the variety of uses you need, the flexibility of multi-tool use, and a somewhat quiet noise level all packed into a relatively small and lightweight unit. Use it at home or on the job, and always know that you have the power and flexibility you need to get your projects done.
